DO YOU HAVE THESE IN YOUR WARDROBE?

OUR LIFE DICTATES A CERTAIN KIND OF WARDROBE

Grace Kelly

ANY ITEM IN YOUR WARDROBE SHOULD SATISFY ONE OF TWO CRITERIA: UTILITY AND JOY

Stacy London

Back with a post that is not at all new to you, you may have heard it before. But I was waiting so long to write about the wardrobe must-haves that each one of us should possess and also how important role they play to create an ideal wardrobe. A good wardrobe should contain certain essentials to ensure you are always well turned out for any occasion. There are a few pieces which in my opinion everyone should have. Let’s begin with these wardrobe must-haves.

BLAZER/JACKET (from ZARA)

A very stylish well-fitted jacket that enhances one’s personality is right up here on my list of wardrobe-essentials. Pure leather, blingy, houndstooth, denim or checkered make one feel chic and comfortable at the same time. It never makes you look over the top because of the cuts and silhouettes, it can highlight your curve and make you voluptuous if you are thin and can add some height, especially long jackets if you are looking for a tall structure. A jacket /blazer will always compliment your outfit.

PRINTED STOLE (from FABINDIA)

It is a simple as any other wardrobe addition, a printed stole whether it a floral print, animal print or just any random print, it can be wrapped around your neck or handbag or can be worn as a bandana will give a statement to your style quotient and your overall look.

SILK SAREE OR SILK SHIRT (from NALLI’S)

Another addition to your wardrobe is a beautiful silk saree( Indian heritage) or a soft silk shirt. So I opted for a saree, nothing conveys the message stronger than a traditional, nine-yard draped around your body. A silk saree whether a Patola, Banarasi, Jamdani or Chanderi, is the perfect attire to flaunt my Indianess at festivals or social do’s. Also, a silk shirt in any shade/hue will do wonders when complementing with a pencil skirt or simply with formal trousers. Silk is a beautiful cloth.

NUDE COLOUR SHOES (from ALDO)

This is a must-have for your wardrobe. It goes almost with everything you wear irrespective of its colour or style. It is the best shade to mute the attention from anything that takes away from the outfit. It looks super chic with short dresses and almost goes with every pattern. You must have at least one pair in your wardrobe.

PERFUME (from HERMES)

Any wardrobe is incomplete without a good perfume to make that clothing live and worthwhile. An amazing fragrance around you brings the whole look to almost perfection. Go for earthy, woody, floral or any fruity fragrance or should have one each from all. A signature perfume is a must for any occasion.

So by having these above few must-haves in your wardrobe can elaborate the wardrobe quotient and brings it to a whole new place, all you have to do is to keep signature or statement pieces for each.

I hope you are already having a few items in your wardrobe, but for the rest, you can go ahead as the holiday season is almost there, no harm in treating yourself with that new pair of shoes or a nice chic blazer or jacket to pamper your inner self.

SPORT IT DIFFERENTLY: SHIRT DRESS

ALWAYS DRESS WELL KEEP IT SIMPLE BUT SIGNIFICANT

***

SHIRTDRESS: SPORT IT!

Shirt dresses were sometimes called “shirtwaist dresses” when they were fashionable during the 1950s. The 1950s version of the shirtdress was launched as part of Christian Dior’s post–World War II “New Look” couture designs, with a full skirt held up by wearing a crinoline. They often featured a notched collar and elbow-length sleeves with cuffs. More informal versions of the shirtdress, made of cotton, but retaining the full skirt and collar, became a staple part of many women’s wardrobes during the 1950s, with designers such as Anne Fogarty becoming known for their versions of this style.

I love traveling, who doesn’t. The past two years because of Pandemic travel got severely affected not only for me but for everyone out there, especially those who really enjoy trips. The world is getting back at it slowly and steadily and I hope things will turn out to be better than before. For me traveling brings so much peace. Recently I changed my Province and planned six days road trip to reach my destination and why I am sharing this as I feel clothing is a very important part of the travel. And dressing comfortably makes more sense to me while I am out on a travel, no one wants to be uncomfortable. I believe while you are out and about always opt for the most comfortable wear. Out of such clothes, my vote goes to Shirt Dress, which truly justifies the comfort level.

A Shirtdress is a style of a women’s dress that borrows details from a man’s shirt. These can include a collar, a button front, or cuffed sleeves. Often, these dresses are made up of crisp fabrics including cotton or silk. As they are typically cut without a seam at the waist, these dresses often have a looser fit, usually relying on a belt to define the waist. Button fronts and a forgiving fit make this a flattering look for most body types. The shirt dress is not only comfortable to wear also you can wear it in like daily, it is also a combination of both comfort and chic vibe.

I would love to style my Shirtdress in a unique way. With this apparel, you can have multiple combinations and can combine it whichever way you like. This is certainly going to rock the look. So here is my take to wear it differently and for that, I added a sporty look to it which gave all-new dimensions to this apparel. I combined my favorite denim shirt and a cap to go absolutely sporty.

You can also accessorize it with funky jewelry. Also, try your denim shirt from the back towards the waist to elevate the look.

Do try this so very effortless look with the super vibe.

YOUR FASHION FEAR BUSTED: PART I

IT’S NOT WHAT YOU WEARING. IT’S THE WAY YOU WEAR IT

..

If you find yourself on the style sidelines thinking, “I could never pull that off,” then it’s time to get a new fashion mantra. I’ve rounded up sage words of wisdom that every fashion wallflower needs. This time I am going to bust a few of your fashion fears. Knowingly that all my beautiful squad is full of confidence, brave to experiment but there are certain moments, where you are unsure about particular fashion piece. You won’t wear trousers cause you inherited your mother’s hips, you can’t wear boots,, you are too short, can’t put Hat as you think it’s plain silly. Am I looking good with this or it’s a total disaster? Such constant overthinking kills all the fun!!

So I am compiling this section into three parts, Each part I will discuss three fashion fears that need to be busted as soon as we can. So that we can enjoy what we wear!

In this part, my discussion point will be :

  1. Chunky jewellery is too much for the workplace!
  2. I’m not bad ass enough for leather jackets!
  3. My neck is too short for scarves!

So let’s start with the first one:

CHUNKY JEWELLERY IS TOO MUCH FOR THE WORKPLACE

..

So your antique silver neckpiece from heirloom was last dusted off at a friend’s wedding. Your Cleopatra-Esque gold Choker is reserved for night-outs. That turquoise asymmetric neckpiece goes perfect with a cocktail dress. But none of these you’d dream of pairing with pantsuits to work.

STATEMENT NECKPIECE CHOKER

YOU CAN DO IT AND HOW?

Pick up a dress in a single solid color, like I opted for a black dress, to wear with one pieced statement jewelry. Keep clothes neutral, so clothes and jewelry don’t scream for attention. And you can beautifully flaunt your heirloom piece from the ancestry.

I AM NOT BADASS ENOUGH FOR LEATHER JACKETS

..

Kelly Mc Gillis wore one in Top Gun with sexy white formal shirts and tailored skirts, but that was in an environment of whistling metal F-14s and sweaty, testosterone-fuelled fighter pilots. And so you’ve always associated leather jackets with a badass personality. That was 1983 since then, leather jackets have been revamped to sexy chic. Just remember the rest of you shouldn’t look like it’s trying too hard.

LEATHER JACKET

YOU ARE AND HOW?

What you have to do is you have to pair a leather jacket with fell fitted jeans and a neutral shirt or top. Semi casual style is the way to go. You can see while pairing your jacket with this style will enhance the whole look and you look fabulous without being badass.

MY NECK IS TOO SHORT FOR SCARVES

..

Your friend seemed so chuffed about. having bought you that classy, limited edition silk designer scarf, you didn’t have the heart to tell her that the last time you wore one, you looked like nature has done you a genetic unkindness as the girl with no neck. You are worried scarves will cover up what a little neck you have, but a little knot knowledge goes a long way.

DESIGNER SCARF

YOU CAN FIX IT! AND HOW?

So there is a fashion fix for this one that is so effortless to try on and resolve the issue in no second. Long scarves in a lighter fabric, tied lower down on your chest elongate your neck and you no more feel shortness of your neck and feel good about it.

So this is it, I hope you found it useful!

LET’S BLOCK IT!!!!

COLOUR BLOCKING TWO BOLD SHADES FEEL SO MODERN

Brad Coreski

I always try to keep myself updated with posting blogs but got so much delayed in posting stuff which I suppose to post a month back or so. But anyways I am trying hard to balance this with other things going in my life. As I just shifted to Alberta from Ontario trust me its is a big move. Changing provinces is not an easy job.I will share that too on my upcoming post.

Also I try yo keep my blog post constant and write more and more interesting stuff.

But for now let’s block it!!

Being related to fashion with so many years and having an immense fondness for fashion and beauty and of course working on fashion sets for various fashion houses I experienced various fashion trends, transformations, experiments that created history and not to mention various fashion disasters too.

Fashion is one elaborated platform where one can play with all their imagination with full capacity and intensity.

Today I want to mention one such trend in my post which created history, and that is ….the trend of Colour Blocking.

Colour Blocking is a kind of trend which has many “myths ” out of which, the biggest one is that it is not for everyone. Usually, people like me with petite body type always keep hands-off with this trend. As “they say” it is for tall body types with perfect figures to exhibit the colour blocking perfectly. But trust me there is no such thing as a perfect body type and we all have our own flaws. We should love our body more than anything in this world, I do!! and moreover, colour blocking for shorter height do wonders.

So talking about topic colour blocking is a very exceptional trend in itself. In the fashion world, the process of color-blocking refers to wearing blocks of colours. Traditional colour-blocking consists of putting together two or three different, but complementary colors together in one outfit. But here I am trying this trend by using two different colours outfit and then create a colour blocking trend.

Colour blocking doesn’t mean you have to stick to one item. Match a skirt and top with a loose cotton jumper come night time, or throw on a pair of shorts with a tone-matching top. Fashion is all about expressing yourself through your clothes.

First brought to high fashion by Yves St. Laurent with his Mondrian-inspired a-line dress, color blocking peaked in the 1960s and ’70s when experimentation with clothing was an act of revolution. Since then, the trend has embbeded and flowed in popularity, with various color combinations ranging from pastels to neons.

One of the most important thought behind the colour blocking is the exploration of taking colours that are opposite on the colour wheel and pairing them together to make them interesting and complementary colour combinations. It all started as a trend that originated from the artwork of dutch painter Piet, Mondrian[1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piet_Mondrian]

So for my post I am using two extremely different colours. I am taking warm hues of tangerine red and team it up with the fresh spring blues.

This colour clash is really very interesting to wear. So for the post I was sure of tangerine but the other colour I was confused to pick. Then opt for a colour which is not very common to use with bold tangerine so I decided for specific kind of blue which gives a blasting vibe when combined.

As you can see here I combines a red printed neck scarf with off shoulder blue top. What say!!

I hope it turns out to be good. This combo can be wear anytime which instantly ups the mood you are inane gives a super fashion vibe.

The red and blue are the soul of this post. I used all possible items to experiment with both of these amazing colours which are bold in themselves individually and thats the beauty of Colour Blocking.

Ofcourse you can wear both the shades separately but together they are giving an entirely a different feel to capture. As you can see how beautifully I combined my blue crystallise dangles with my red collared top.

So folks do try your hands on this colour blocking trend , go and play with the colour of your choice, no boundaries , no thinking, splash that little of something everywhere !

Do try the colour clocking trend or make colour blocking by using two different clothing or accessory items , experiment a little for yourself and enjoy!

Happy Colourful Blocking!
