Nowhere beats the heart so kindly as beneath the tartan plaid…
William Edmonstoune Aytou
Hey guys, how are you all? Are you ready to celebrate Christmas !! Tree decoration, gift wrapping, socks stuffings….all set for Christmas Eve. Same here, but still I want to write a post in between the ongoing celebrations as the topic is one of my favourites. As we know that patterns play an important part in fashion. Like colours, we have distinctive patterns which are there to create amazing looks for fashion runways and hit along any given fashion platform. Out of all those beautiful and creative patterns; today I am going to talk about one such pattern. PLAID. This one such winter favourite is also known as Tartan. This consists of crisscrossed horizontal and vertical bands in multiple colours.
Colourful Plaid Fabric
Tartan is particularly associated with Scotland. It is often called Plaid in the United States. It is made of alternating bands of coloured (pre-dyed) threads woven as both warp and weft at right angles to each other.
Red Plaid Fabric
The tartan as we know it today is not thought to have existed in Scotland before the sixteenth century. By the late 16th century there are numerous references to striped or checkered plaids. It is not until the late 17th or early 18th century that any kind of uniformity in tartan is thought to have occurred. Tartan originated in woven wool, but now they are made from many other materials.
Scottish immigration at the end of the 18th century contributed to the popularisation of plaid in the USA. Founded in 1830 by Woolrich Woollen Mills, this legendary pattern comes from Pennsylvania. In the field of fashion, these lumberjack checks play a significant role and already created their outstanding mark. The plaid pattern is one of the most classic and chic of all times.
Plaid Pants by Urban Planet
Designers all over the world keep on creating and experimenting with this pattern in different ways like coloured tartans or plaids which was a major trend last year and this year too. This pattern is so effortless that you can wear any piece of garment with checks and you will never fail to nail the look, be it a simple buffalo shirt or be it a chic skirt along with a shimmering top.
Plaid Buffalo Shirt
Wool-blend plaid skirt is so classic and a kind of wardrobe must-have. Plaid shirts on the other hand are unisex and effortless. Designers used this pattern in accessories like gloves, shoes, Winter hats and bags.
Plaid winter hat
The best you can do is combine tan accessories with your plaid pieces as they complement each other flawlessly. As a stylist, I would like to recommend all fashionistas to at least have one plaid piece in their wardrobe in any form.
Toy with Plaid Clothing
Complete your look with these lumberjack checks available in all moody hues these days. A little rough and tumble never hurt anyone. All the best with the Plaid Playing guys!!
The world needs greener and greener, there is no doubt in every single word of the quote I mentioned above. Green is everything. As much as the world remains green so are our lives. What I feel is, the world needs to grow green as soon as possible. I know people all over already started a green lifestyle, they are going organic whether in food or clothing, and they are opting for more natural things rather than virtual, yes slowly and gradually things will change but of course, we have to take steps for that.
But today I am not discussing statistical things, rather I am talking about the colour as in fashion. Verdant love-Verdant is derived from the Old French word for “green,” vert, which in turn is from Latin virērē, meaning “to be green. The colour green is a most integral part of the spectrum which lies between blue and yellow, also you can see how nature plays with colours by keeping sky blue and sunshine yellow which directly creates a vast canvas of green pastures, land and forests. So, nature also justifies the importance of green.
Green is life. Green is everywhere. Not only in our nature but also in our lifestyle, health and of-course fashion. I am a green tea lover and I do live on it for years it is the biggest source of immunity booster and good for your overall health.
If talk about lifestyle, we all love to keep our houses breathable by decorating them with beautiful plants, small plants, big plants, beautiful big gardens or succulents in every room. Any way we love to show our love towards the green to let green prevail.
Even fashion industries all over the world never fail to display green colour on runways every year. No runway is complete without a splash of it. Green brings life, its ultimate stylish colour to wear and soothing to your eye. There are many green shades such as Olive green, Mint green, Pea green, Military green, Sacramento green and Neon green. You can play along with this colour any which way you like, extremely sporty and versatile shade. You can try it on with all the refreshed spins with this single colour.

We all love doing makeup, lighter or darker, simple or creative and of various types but do we ever realize the most integral part of our makeup is its tools, which we use to perform all possible looks we want. We use brushes, sponges, spatulas, or maybe Q-tips. Q-tips are the ones you can use and throw, but brushes and sponges are the ones that you hardly tell when they are dirty. Moreover, the brushes which we use for eyeliners or applying foundation seem like they have only product residue. Brush bristles and sponges are both porous; which means they hold onto oils, debris, dead skin and even bacteria.
SPONGES FROM MINISO
So all my beauty with brains friends out there answers me with one simple question? What is the point of spending thousands of bucks on expensive skin care products, when you are directly giving germs-free access?
SPONGES FROM MINISO
Let me tell you a very important thing guys. Sometimes just because of the time crunch or just being lazy, we can easily get infected by our own makeup tools because they can be a breeding ground for different kinds of viruses, fungi and bacteria. These can be present in the air all the time and accumulate over time and can enter your bloodstream through even the finest cuts on your face and cause infections. This is the biggest reason why we wonder about breakouts, rashes and other allergic reactions which directly lead to dull and unhealthy skin.
I mean.. it hardly took minutes to clean your makeup brushes and sponges. You only have to gently put them in mild water and applying soap, you can even go for a baby shampoo too if available.
BLUSH AND EYE BRUSH FROM FOREVER 21EYESHADOW BRUSH FROM BOBBI BROWN
The correct way of doing it is here:
Wet the bristles with lukewarm water and place the drop of cleanser or shampoo into the palm of your hand. Then gently massage the tips of the bristles. Rinse off with cold water. Do not introduce the base of the brush head with water, soap or detergent as it will lead to the loss of the bristles from there resulting in the destruction of your makeup tool.
BRUSH (FOREVER 21 )AND LIQUID SOAP (DIAL)
After rinsing it properly, clean it with a towel, reshape the brush and let it dry with its bristles hanging off the edge of the counter. This would intact the shape of your brush. No drying on a towel.
As well as for the sponges you can soak them up in lukewarm water and shampoo solution, Sponges dry quickly.
Important note: don’t use a bathing bar as it will dry out the bristles and they will be no softer, so don’t use them. A weekly wash is good enough for face tools. If possible do clean the eyeshadow brushes on a daily basis as recommended by the dermatologist, to avoid various eye infections.
My only advice to all of you is just to protect your skin from any damage by simply keeping your makeup tools neat and clean. All the best to you for all the make-up you are planning for the coming festive season.
But I do believe the quote by Albert Camus which says: "Autumn is a second spring where every leaf is a flower".
The wonderfully bright and sunny days are about to get over. Beautiful days of bright magenta petunia flowers scattered all over your gardens are wrapping up day by day. Leaves are about to shed their trees and lose themselves again to never come back. Nature!! It’s time to say goodbye to the greenery around us and brace ourselves to welcome autumn. Time to start prepping for Thanksgiving and Halloween. Time for hoodies and pumpkins with a hot cuppa Coffee. Every new season doesn’t come alone but brings a lot of seasonal changes whether it’s flowers or fruits or clothing or lifestyle. Everything changes as the weather changes.
Talking about clothing brings me to think of how fashion changes every year with a season and how beautiful is that to change your moody hues and subdued palette according to what’s going on outside. Every year brings new temperament of the clothes and their styles. But other than that it’s a huge natural weather change which brings woolly jumpers, scarves, socks, crisp mornings and the chill in my fingers.
Yes, this is so true, when I look around I find the beautiful autumn leaves scattered all over as sunlight paints them gold. Autumn is that beautiful time of the year when one can introduce sweaters, plaid, oversized everything, football, messy hair( my favourite), brand new soup recipes, falling leaves and dinner parties. It always amazed me to see how beautifully autumn leaves grow old day by day and experience the last colourful days of their lifetime. I wish all of us should have a life like that.
From the autumn trees, I always learn one thing and that one thing is letting go of their leaves because letting go always inspires one to grow and that is the most beautiful thing ever. So, let it go and make way for the new ones. Let’s welcome autumn with both hands.
