HAVE YOU ADDED THESE SUMMER FRUITS TO YOUR DIET?

Always try to make the most of the season’s produce by adding delectables fruits to your summer diet

The oppressive heat and sweltering water conditions have made life difficult for everyone. Because of the hot weather, people of all ages are experiencing various challenges. An easy way to battle the heat is by including fresh fruits and vegetables as part of your diet. Summers are killing and the best way to treat us with a cool breeze of freshness is nothing but the Summer fruits which are not only delectable but extremely good for your health.

Seasonal summer fruits appear during the season, serving the dual purpose of hydrating and cooling the body. They provide a lot of vitamins and water, which is necessary to battle the heat. These fruits should be included in everyone’s diet, especially that of older people, during this hot season.

Here are the fruits I am talking about:

COCONUT WATER

A Coconut is the edible fruit of an edible palm It improves your endurance. Coconut meat contains large amounts of medium chain fatty acids, a type of saturated fat that is much easier for the human body to digest than animal fats. Give you better oral health. It also contains antimicrobial properties. Help you lose weight. It can be eaten as food or used as medicine. Coconut is taken by mouth for bladder stones, diabetes, high cholesterol, and weight loss. In foods, coconut is used in various preparations.

ORANGES

In addition to being rich in vitamin C, oranges also contain potassium and nutrients, which help treat muscle pain and cramps. Oranges also help build strong immunity and enable the body to fight diseases. In addition to vitamin C, oranges have other nutrients that keep your body healthy. The fibre in oranges can keep blood sugar levels in check and reduce high cholesterol to prevent cardiovascular disease. Oranges contain approximately 55 milligrams of calcium or 6% of your daily requirement.

WATERMELON

Watermelon is one of the best fruits to consume in the summer. It has a high water content, which keeps the body hydrated. It is also rich in lycopene, which protects the body from sun damage. Also, watermelon is an antioxidant that helps break down harmful free-oxygen radicals. It prevents kidney injury and therefore, is a kidney-friendly food.

KIWIS

Like oranges, kiwis are rich in vitamin C and delight to the taste buds. They have a cooling effect on the body and contain vitamins, potassium, and fibre. Kiwis are high in dietary fibre and provide a variety of health benefits. This tart fruit can support heart health, digestive health, and immunity. The kiwi is a healthy choice of fruit and is rich in vitamins and antioxidants.

Above are the fruits which are beneficial in one way or the other, entirely securing your body from harmful toxins that enter your body from different sources. Be mindful of eating the fruits for good health, be prudent in taking care of your body, and be alert to eat right! Because it never matters how good you look from the outside what actually matters is if everything is good from the inside. So get some summery fruits for yourself and treat your inner organs with good health and happiness.

WATERMELON COOLER

It’s Watermelon weather/That summer kind of weather /When people get together and sing

Guy Webster

Summer is here. In Canada, summer shines a little late usually after May. Summers are all fun whether it’s going out on picnics, trekking, hiking, breathable dressing, or lots of fun or cool drinks to quench our thirsts. Personally, I love mountains and snow but don’t mind roaming in floral dresses with awesome smoothies, shakes or mocktails in hand or thinking twice before going out which I usually do in winter.

The best part of summer is the sun and warmth but that part often makes you sweat, thirsty and dehydrated. We have to keep in mind that while enjoying out in hot weather we always keep ourselves hydrated either by drinking lots of water or drinking homemade juices, shakes or smoothies.

Here is one such drink to quench your thirst this summer: Watermelon Cooler

Watermelon is a great source of high water content and provides nutrients like Lycopene, Citrulline, and Vitamin A and C. Studies suggest that this sweet red, melon may even boost heart health, reduce muscle soreness and decrease inflammation. It provides energy and is easy to make.

Nothing boosts energy quite like the natural sugars found in fruits. One of my favourites is watermelon. An added advantage is that it is full of nutritional goodness.

It’s easy to make let me give you the recipe real quick:

INGREDIENTS

  1. 3 cups chopped Watermelon
  2. 8-12 ice cubes (optional) as its still so cold in Canada so I didn’t use them
  3. 1/4 tbsp Black Salt
  4. 1 tbsp Honey
  5. 1/4 tbsp Lemon Juice
  6. Fresh Mint for the garnish

HOW TO DO IT

Blend together all the ingredients in a blender. Strain the juice if you like, Serve and garnish with mint.

Nothing can replace the refreshing energy your body will receive after drinking this glass of pure health. Do try it guys and rock this summer with freshness and nutrition.

Hope you have great fun and lots of beach time!
